“Do Ask Do Tell”. Ari Herstand = Golden.

Ari is one of those unusually benevolent, kind and thoughtful people that anybody would be lucky to meet. When I transferred to the University of Minnesota from Duluth, Minnesota, he was one of the first people I met and befriended, and I am so thankful for his friendship.

Although I live in Alaska now, and he is in California, I still look forward to hearing his music, and it often accompanies me on the long drives into Anchorage.

Here is a wonderful “stand up for love” anthem– love comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds. As humans, let’s always be reminded that all we are empowered to do is love, be loved and respect love. Enjoy… Ari Herstand’s “Do Ask Do Tell”.

Ari Herstand, “Do Ask Do Tell”

What’s the country asking from me
Why do I feel threatened to be
beside the love of our time

On the news I hear people screaming
In the streets the bigotry seethes
Embracing hate, spreading lies
Defacing love, it’s unkind
Emancipate your mind

Love is what it takes when the hate around you breaks through the sound of
Love will saturate our minds

I was always taught to be kind
Help the ones struggling to get by
Do ask do tell if you love

Fighting two wars for our freedom
From a foreign hate we’re undone
but a closer hate is right here
In our churches, schools, in the mirror
Do ask do tell we’re right here
To stand up

Love is what it takes when the hate around you breaks through the sound of
Love will saturate our minds

Stay safe, and be good to each other.
